Dr. Shauna Zenteno is an Associate Professor, Biology in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Athabasca University. She is the former Program Director for the BSc Human Science program and the former Chair, Centre for Science. In her 13 years at AU she has participated on a number of university and faculty committees and been involved in many initiatives across the institution, including her recent contributions to Imagine, the AU Strategic Plan. She has sat on many hiring committees, including the committees for the Provost VP Academic, both Campus Alberta Innovates Chairs, and recently, the Canada Research Chair in Hydrological Sustainability. She is involved in both undergraduate and graduate programming, teaching, and research supervision. Her research is focused on the genetics and cellular mechanisms of bacterial persistence and the discovery of novel antimicrobials. She is both excited and honoured for the opportunity to work with many people across AU to continue to enhance our graduate programs and the graduate experience.
