5. Ethics/Access Approval

Upon successful completion of the candidacy process and acknowledgement from the supervisor and supervisory committee that the doctoral candidate is ready to proceed with data collection for their research, a submission must be made to the AU Research Ethics Board (if applicable), and any other approval bodies. When such approvals are obtained, a copy of the approvals must be provided to the supervisor and the Academic Unit. A copy is retained in the doctoral candidate’s file held by the supervisor, and in the doctoral candidate’s file within the academic unit. The doctoral candidate must also retain a copy of the approvals for inclusion as an Appendix in the dissertation.
